A radical design for an advanced combat rifle, the Steyr ACT fires an extremely high-velocity flechette round. Similar in configuration to the H&K G11, the ACR is also a bullpup weapon with a molded synthetic stock. Unlike the G11, the Steyr is contoured in an ergonomic fashion to fit the firer's hands and shoulder.

The 5.56mm SCF (synthetic cased flechette) has a muzzle velocity of 1500 mps (meters per second). The round operates like a discarding-sabot tank shell and is fin-stablized to give a long effective range.
