The suspension of this vehicle is consisted of rubber coated wheels, the drive sprocket is in the vehicles rear. Shock absorbers are placed in the first, second and sixth wheels. The suspension in the rear of the vehicle slopes gradually downward, permitting the placement of additional armour. The engine exaust is in the rear left side of the engine hull, close enough to the turret that it oftentimes leaves a faint black streak along the left rear of the turret. The commander's coupla is on the right side of the turret, the gunner's hatch is on the left side. The driver's hatch is in the middle of the hull front. The Infra-red spotlight is mounted on the right side of the turret, so that the commander may use it. Two storage boxes are on the turret, one on the turret rear, the other to the right of the commander's coupla. The rear of the vehicle is able to carry two additional 200 liter drums for increased range, both of which can be jettisoned. The gun is automatically reloaded, thus relinquishing the need for the fourth crew member. The vehicle is NBC sealed, and is capable of limited submersion. Preperation for submersion takes about 20 minutes, and employs a snorkel. The vehicle is battle ready 2 minutes after leaving the water.
     There are many variants of the T-72 MBT. Statistics given here are for those tanks (T-72 G) which will be most commonly found on the battle field in 2000. For older T-72 models, the only differences lie in Range Finder bonus, and Hull Front and Turret Front armour. The first model T-72 had Hull Front: 44, Turret Front: 48.
