The third Soviet
medium tank produced, The T-62 features many improvements over it's pre-WWII
cousin, the T-54/55. The gunner can use an IR searchlight, mounted on the right
side of the main gun. The T-62 still has a water-cooled diesel engine, and the
same snorkeling and smoke screen capabilities of the T-55. The T-62 also still
has the PAZ radiation detection system, though some later models are fully NBC
sealed. Later models also incorporate passive night vision equipment along with
a laser range finder (in place of the stadiametric reticle range finder), though
these replacements were never instituted on a wide scale, and thus are encountered
rarely.
