The amphibian soldiers are, together with the coastal rangers, a part of an amphibian battalion. These elite soldiers have the task to defend the Swedish coast, first, against enemy ships (this is done with mines and land-to-sea-missiles) and, second, against enemy soldiers invading a coastal area. The amphibian soldiers are highly trained elite soldiers and therefore earn the green beret during the training.
The amphibian soldiers are, like the rest of the Swedish military forces, equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. Weapons are no different than from the rest of the military forces (ak5, ak5b, ak5c, ksp m/58, ksp m/90, Grk M/29-41, and Rbs-17).
