Well, from personal experience, here's something you might find funny. When in Germany for a Shooting Competition while a Territorial Army Military Policeman, I found myself hosted with the local unit of regular RMP (116 Pro Coy RMP, who were at Hohne, at the time), who told me that if the shit hit the fan, I'd probably find myself helping them with the workload.... Since I didn't speak a word of German, I was coached what to say, in German, should I have to give the statutory JSP385A warning that I was gonna make someone a new 5.56mm body cavity... The BRITISH version: "BRITISH ARMY! STOP OR I SHOOT!" The GERMAN version (excuse the crap spelling): "HALT! Britisher feldjager! HALT OUDER ICH SCEISSE!" Now. With the above in mind, it is worth while noting that the last word in German can be mis-pronounced. With hilarious results, for the uninitiated... My Sergeant-Major damn near wet himself, the first time I tried to say it - leaving me to wonder just what the hell I'd just said... I mean, how do you think a German would react if someone yelled at the top of their lungs "stop or I shit myself"?! (American green backs >only please;) > >Abel How nice it would be with yet another Ameri-centric rpg out there (as most rpgs are). The original T2K, though Americentric in basis, did turn out to be more internationally compatible than others (which mostly contained bkgd on how to play in an american setting, u see that even today, cp2020, WoD, CoC, etc.) by offering a multinational setting. Other games usually used fictional settings. I do see a potential buyers market if they would stuff the '2k full of the good ol' ameri-propaganda (a topic at which you have excelled as long as mankind could remember you), but the traditional non-biased wysiwyg approach would render the game more INTERNATIONALLY commercially attractive. You would gain a small portion of the american targets (a lot of ppl would have strong differing political, religious and sexual sensitivities), and an even smaller portion of foreign interest. The game would die early, unless of course it had a logical reason for being centered in the N-Am (like CoC, Car Wars, etc.). And Jim (our fellow propagandhi), I have to agree with the British (Evil Imperial to Hollywoodish Americans) listmember. Everybody is brought up with the local self-gloryfying propaganda of the nation, state or county, and every non-American on this list could probably offer a biased view of his or her nation equal to, or even better than yours (which was not really yours), but there are always some people who can SEE. I do feel sorry for those who cannot take a more objective point of view to the WSOGMM (A Douglas Adams term). Propaganda with the 3 afore-mentioned topics has always, as Ballistix said, been a troublemaker/firestarter/stupid reason to go to war. But humans are of course still too stupid to realize the cause of their differences, and a way to resolve their problems. But thats what T2K was all about; a WW3 started for the same old reasons. Soldiers: Propaganda is important for morale and patriotic nationalism, and regrettably necessary. Well, nobody's perfect. Usually you only see a contingency basis on either a personal or property damage issue case. In other words a case where there is going to be some kind of monetary award issued to the plaintiff, usually on a case involving no monetary award your best bet is to get an attorney to take it on pro-bono, that is for free. Not easy to find an attorney to do that unless it is a case involving some kind of indigent client and either that person is being tried in a criminal court or there is some big social issue involved. Hope this helps *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@lists.imagiconline.com with the line 'unsubscribe twilight2000' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2000 09:50:30 -0800 (PST) From: ignatius Subject: Re: What a heck is going on in this list? - --- Pietu wrote: > > What a heck Mel Gibson has to do with Twilight2000? > Well, Mel Gibson made three movies that are directly related to Twilight2000: Mad Max, The Road Warrior and Mad Max Beyond Thunder Dome. They all deal with survival in a post-Apocalyptic world. In my opinion, the Road Warrior was the best. Check them out. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
