GPMG's such as the Mag58 and the M60 will have a hard time firing from a crouched or a standing position if the player is not braced. Then newer model mg's such as the LSW's (5.56 mg's) are able to be fired in all positions. Of course accuracy isn't that great standing or crouching due to the CofG situation but it is still effective in a covering fire situation. I think someone has already stated that if you've got the strength then you are able to fire the M60 standing or crouching, this is true although the burst size is very limited and the accuracy ,well it aint that great and your better off hitting the deck for some cover and support as you've been playing. The player must have a strength of 7 or greater to effectively fire the MG without support. For every round after the first s/he wishes to continue firing the weapon, they must pass a stamina test or must seek some place to support the MG on. Fair enough I think. The question I've got is how do you lot think you can fire it. You can fire it from nearly any posture. At present I've got a player dropping to the ground to use the bipod or resting it on a convenient bit of cover. These are the best ways to fire, and its very surprising for a player to do it. Usually players fire Rambo style. Can you fire it standing up? Yes Can you fire it from a crouch? Yes TTFN Ron Hale *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe twilight2000' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Apr 1999 16:21:48 -0400 From: Mykn8r Subject: Re: Looking To Buy Calibur1@aol.com wrote: > > I'm looking for an on-line store that sells out-of-print > Twilight:2000 materials. In all honesty troops in the field will probably rig extra attachments (like better straps or the Peach cans on Vietnam era M60s) to enable them to move around a bit. Josh Wrote <<< I have seen footage of standing MG firing, so for game play, I base the ability to fire an MG standing on strength. >>> That's a good idea that I should have hit upon earlier. Expand on it a little bit and we get an easy strength test to fire single bursts standing going up to a difficult for a four round burst. If they screw up the accuracy goes to pot. Mmmmm like that one. Squad support weapons A few people mentioned Squad support weapons. The 1st edition allows you to fire them at 1/2 skill while walking. This compares to full walking and 1/2 trotting for an assault rifle. Can't speak for the US M249 but the UK LSW is basically the same as the IW (SA80), heavier barrel and a bipod but that's about it. If you can fire the SA80 one way then the LSW should be the same. This may be another of those common sense over rules situations that Billy Bob mentioned. Anyhow thanks again, got some inspiration now. Greetings: Another problem with this guns came when you are using an ammo belt. One of the role of the assistants is to position the belt as this is fired by the gunner, to avoid a bad stick. With the MG firing at high speed and the belt moving with the recoil this is very easy. One think that i like of the Ramboīs films is that when he was firing the M60 with one hand, with the other was preparing the belt. Of course, no one could fire an MG at those rates, but even the weapons used in films sticks. I shooted once with a 7,62N MG, and it was in prone position with bipod. About every three to four times that i fired a short burst, i was unable to shoot because the recoil was taking me back, and i was forced to secure myself in a possible sooting position. I think that firing with an MG Without a good firing position should be possible, but sure it will not be easy. Sorry if my english is poor, but i donīt write it too much. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe twilight2000' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 1 May 1999 23:58:45 EDT From: LeeHa1854@aol.com Subject: Greetings Hello from a new lurker! I could do it for you, but I could also sell you a 5.25 drive really cheap (I accidentally bought a lot of six of them when I thought my drive was dead, and then I discovered it only needed cleaning, so I have six spares). The offer of 5.25 drives goes out to anyone on the list, in fact. :) Scott Orr *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe twilight2000' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 03 May 1999 16:41:32 -0700 From: Peter Vieth Subject: Re: Twilight:2000 computer version Scott David Orr wrote: > At 03:37 PM 5/3/99 EDT, SharpInt@aol.com wrote: > >Well guys, I finally laid my hands on a copy of Twilight:2000. Id like to do a page focusing on German Equip. and light vehicles if I can find enough info. any German posters are very welcome to help. I probably (really definitely) won't go into the detail Antti has on the Swede's but I do think more attention should be paid to the Second largest NATO Army in T2K, and to it's equipage. Oh yeah, Books aren't really helpful since the local Libraries suck at militaria. Pretty good over all but suck at Militaria. *************************************************************************** To unsubscribe from this list send mail to majordomo@mpgn.com with the line 'unsubscribe twilight2000' as the body of the message. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 3 May 1999 18:12:18 -0700 (PDT) From: Josh Baumgartner Subject: Re: Twilight:2000 computer version > heh). My friends at http://www.anderfront.com should give you a good starting point. They sell equipment to reenactors, and have videos, gear, and links to other WWII sites. The worst you can do is give them a try. See if they have the WWII documentary on German combat engineers. They were a marvel. For those interested in purchasing anything from them, they do mail order, and they're based in Louisville, KY. Try an old Steven Zaloga book Central Front (just a rundown of the TOE of all ground forces in NATO's central region circa 1985/86) and the Osprey book NATO's European Armies (or whatever). RAIDS the magazine also tends to be good but usually only helps if you can read French; Jane's Defense Weekly is better in terms of geopolitical and technical intelligence. > Id like to do a page focusing on German Equip. and light vehicles if I can > find enough info. Sounds like you want to run a Panzeraufklarungsbattalion or the fire support eleemnt of the Heer's air mobile forces. Wiesels armed with either TOWs or 20mmx139mm Rh type guns or luchs with 20mm guns and a skate ring mounted MG3. Neither of which survive very long against tanks and often find it tough to deal with running into enemy infantry positions. This is the modern Bundesheer and not the old fashioned field grey wearing masses.. Mad Mike - -- "War is the only sport that is genuinely amusing. It's not ancient, it's just a little behind the times. They've got a 5 1/4 and a 3 1/2 drive, perfect for switching stuff around. _______________________________________________________________ Get Free Email and Do More On The Web.
