It is not my intention to cut off debate on this or any subject (for one thing, I can't stop people from talking about whatever they please). Have I missed some vital portion of the thread and the discussion has moved on to something different? What exactly is under contention here? By way of clarification the letter we received stated the author's belief that: 1) we had greviously insulted every American who currently or ever had worn a uniform by even thinking about the possibility of the CivGov/MilGiv breach, 2) we should immediately withdraw the game from publication, destroy every copy, rewrite it to elminate the subject and republish it, sending a complimentary cpy to everyone who bought it, 3) Publish a public retraction and apology. As you know, we did not, because point 1 was not true. I have some questions about an old website "The Unofficial Twilight 2000 webpage." My first question is what happened to it? I assume it's gone, and was wondering if anybody saved the character generation rules. I felt these rules were far superior to any of the other rules presented in all three twilight 2000 editions. I have them, but only as printouts as my hard drive got destroyed losing those files. Please if anybody has them could you send them to me as I don't want to retype them. I find myself once again apologizing for the long tirade about " It is impossible to understand what it is like to be in combat unless you've been there" but I do so once again. However please keep in mind... These games aren't to make warriors out of you...just to have fun. It is the people who take it too seriously that give role playing games a bad name. If you wan't to get a feel for the game ...watch a few "after the bomb movies" and a few Vietnam war films or even a few WWII flicks. The games aren't worth fighting over ... not even verbally. Vlad P.S. Once again I apologize for my tirade. I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome and sometimes I get a little wired when talking about what actual conflict is like on the head. It was what powered my best campaign - as a referee (and, I think,a good one to boot) I was able to parlay my players conflicting loyalties (both within the themselves and the group) into some fantastic dramatic tension. I got my players to think seriously about a number of civil liberties and constitutional issues for the first time in their lives. (Who said education can't be fun?) There's a historical precedent of sorts: During the Civil War, Union General Joseph Hooker managed to convince a number of fellow military leaders (after several defeats early in the war) that President Lincoln was dangerously close to losing the war and splitting the Union. He set up the beginnings of a Military coup which would, essentially, have split the nation down the same lines... I find no inconsistency between this scenario and reality. The catch may be the concept of a large, organized "New America" - and even that was food for thought. I've used this split in all my campaigns - and variations on it in a Merc campaign, even! TW Auction Information While rechecking the items that are being auctioned, I found problems with the following. 513 King's Ransom 2011 Heavy Weapons Handbook are missing pages, and in the case of the HW Handbook, some really nice crayon drawings. I received some items from a friend when he moved, and didn't pay that much attention. I will be pulling these items from the auction as they are not usable in their condition. I also found one item that I hadn't listed. 2017 East Europe Sourcebook. Sorry for the confusion, and will strive to correct any concerns. ===================== Jeff Cherpeski cherpesk@scs.unr.edu Carson City, Nevada ------------------------------ End of twilight2000-digest V1998 #18 ************************************
